Weekend Recap

The weekend is almost over. This is how I feel about it.

I’m not happy. Boo!!

Anyways, I’m not really sure why I’m doing a weekend recap. I didn’t do anything.

That’s a lie – I didn’t do anything I really WANTED to do. That’s more like it.

Anyways, Friday was pretty fun. After work, I went out to the ‘burbs to Gina’s place and hung out with some ladies that I used to work with. Such a fun night! Lots of wine, spinach dip and girl talk to go around! I ended up staying at Gina’s pretty late and then going home. I made the mistake of checking in at the office at my work (like I always do the night before I work to make sure it’s not going to be too busy) and found out a lady in the building died. Super sad! I’m not super great with thinking about death, so it took me quite a bit to fall asleep.

Then Saturday I worked all day (it was dead so I was pretty active on Pinterest – ha) and came home and tried the fit test for Insanity. HOLY CRAP. Moral of the story – I am out of shape. I spent the rest of the night making up a budget (I’m broke), laundry and boring stuff like that. Woo, adulthood?

Sunday was more work (and Pinterest) but it was pretty active in the office today so that was good. Then, grocery shopping (now I’m even more broke), started some chili in the crockpot, ate and did the first true day of Insanity. All I can say is OWWWWWWW.

Well, on to this crazy busy week. I hope you had a great weekend!

My Life Lately

I missed the Blogtember post for yesterday, so I figured I’d talk about it today! It’s a post about my life lately, which has been a bit all over the place.

Lately I have been REALLY busy. September has been crazy and October looks to be just as nuts.

I have been working (A LOT) between my two jobs and I can honestly say it’s been taking a toll on me. I’m constantly exhausted! So, every weekend I’ve been working unless I’ve taken off. Luckily, the last two weekends I was able to take off for “fun stuff” including the Healthy Living Summit (which I had LOTS of posts on) and this past weekend I went to the most beautiful wedding for two college friends of mine.

My life lately has also been expensive! Between the wedding, trip to Minneapolis, teeth whitening, TranSiberian Orchestra tickets (!!!!!), Holiday Hustle and food, I’m basically broke. Yay, two jobs? I feel like I need three. This girl needs to learn to budget.

I can’t wait until I have a free day that I can unload all of the things I learned at HLS and figure out a new blog name. I’ve been so exhausted lately it’s been sitting on the back burner.

This next month is going to be crazy, too! My friend from the East is coming to visit again, I’m going to two conferences for work (PR + Social Media Summit and AE College) AND I have another wonderful wedding, this time in DePere, Wis. I’ll also be taking my car back up north to be looked at again. I love my VW, but it sure is a money sucker. 😦

I also have been slowly getting back into working out. Slowwwwwwly, but surely. And that’s my life lately!

California Dreamin’

Today’s Blogtember challenge is: A memory you would love to relive.

OBVIOUSLY, I would love to relive every single moment of being in California – both times I went. Granted, I would change some things about the trips, but the happiness I felt in both Los Angels and San Francisco cannot be topped. From loving the weather, touching the ocean, seeing the Golden Gate bridge and stalking Facebook and Twitter headquarters (ha), I can’t wait to get back there some day and make some more memories. Who knows, maybe someday it’ll be to MOVE there! It’s definitely my dream!

So, who wants to help me move there? 🙂

Read some more of my Blogtember posts here, here and here! They’ve been so much fun.

A letter

Holy moly, this past weekend was insane! The Healthy Living Summit was a success and I’m excited to see that it’ll be in Madison in 2014! Even closer to me 🙂

But for today, I’ll be participating in Blogtember (write a public love letter to someone in your life)  and writing a letter to my real friends.

I emphasize the word “real” because I unfortunately had to go through a huge journey this year of finding out who they are. I lost a lot of “friends” when my ex-boyfriend and I broke up last. Specifically the friends that were plotting things behind my back while we were still together.

But I digress – this letter is to the good friends, not the ones I left behind.

Some of my friends have been around for what seems like forever. There are 20+ year friendships, some friendships from college and a couple of friendships that are just barely a year old.

To all of my lovely friends:

Thank you to the women (and few men) who stood by me all throughout my life, but especially to the ones who helped me become who I really am in the past year.

Some examples of these wonderful friends are …

  • A specific friend who sat with me after work for hours while I struggled with my relationship decisions and through countless lunches of me babbling on about being lonely.
  • Friends who told me the truth about how I needed to regain my independence.
  • A friend who traveled from the other side of the country to spend the weekend with me.
  • A friend who sent me fun presents for my new apartment when I was feeling nervous about living on my own.
  • The friends who helped me through a rough patch in my career and continue to push me to reach for my dreams – even if they seem unattainable to me sometimes.
  • All of the new friends who I met through the Healthy Living Summit this past weekend!

I’m lucky to have the people in my life that are here now. I’ve learned that quality is ALWAYS more important than quantity and that the friends that don’t put you as a priority, don’t deserve to be a priority in your life. I appreciate you all and I’m here for you always like you have been for me!

Selfie Friday

While I’m frolicking in Minneapolis at my first blogging conference, take a look at my Blogtember post of the day – A self portrait (or selfies, as I lovely call them).

I’ve become a bit of a “professional” in the selfies department. 😉 Just kidding! Not. I’ll give you three self portraits that I think show my personality.

Packer fan, yet feminine. See glitter phone case and maxi skirt. 🙂

Caffeine Addict (soda and mochas – baddddd)

Just me, takin’ selfies.

But enough about me, what about you? Do you like self portraits? I would normally say I hate them, but I’ve regained a lot of confidence in the past year that I had lost for a long, long time so it’s fun to not mind being in pictures anymore!

Where I’ll be at #HLS13

The Healthy Living Summit is almost here! You can probably guess that I’m excited just based on the amount of times I’ve talked about it. 🙂

There are so many fun activities throughout the weekend and I can’t wait to meet tons of new people who share my passion! I’ll be arriving in Minneapolis laaaaate on Thursday night (Friday morning, technically) and will head straight to the hotel and try to get some sleep (though I’ll probably be too excited).

Friday, September 13:

8:45-11:45 –  Wild Harvest Behind-the-Scenes Tour:

  • Tour the test kitchens and sensory lab to see how new products are developed
  • Participate in an actual sensory test focus group to determine what makes it to store shelves
  • Learn how new recipes are created using wild harvest products
  • Hear how we work with local growers and partners to ensure we always exceed quality and organic standards
  • Discuss the importance of nutrition as part of a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of incorporating organic foods into your diet
  • Sample products and recipes featuring the wild harvest brand

Noon-1 p.m. –  Early Registration: It’s officially the beginning of the summit! Oh, and running back up to my hotel room to finally meet Casey!

1 p.m. – Hands-on workshop time including mini-demos on a variety of blogging topics

3 p.m. – Blogging 101: Lessons Learned roundtable

5:15 p.m. – Town Hall Mingle at a local brewery (I know, I don’t drink beer, but breweries are still fun!)

8-10 p.m. – Cocktail Party!

Saturday, September 14: To see descriptions, see the agenda here.

Breakfast and the summit kickoff is in the morning

9:15-10 a.m. – Blogs in Transition: Embracing your Blog (I’ll be live-tweeting this one!)

10:25-11 a.m. – From Blog to Job: Utilizing Your Personal Blog to Elevate Your Career

11:15 a.m.-12 p.m. – The Organized Blogger

1-1:55 p.m. – Wild Harvest Keynote Address (I’ll be live-blogging this one! Check back here to see my live blog on Saturday.)

2-2:45 p.m. – Hands-On Workshop or “Blogging Study Hall” as they’re calling it!

2:50-3:30 p.m. – Break

3:35-4:20 p.m. – Blogger and The Brand: A Best Practices Session for Building Relationships

4:25-5 p.m. – Closing Remarks

Then, I have free time! I’m hoping to set something up with some of the women I meet at the conference. Maybe a fun dinner or something? (If you’re going to HLS and would like to meet up, let me know if you’re planning on doing anything!)

Sunday, September 15:

8-9 a.m. 5k Run/Walk (Ha, let’s be real. This is going to be a walk for me.)

9-11 a.m. – Breakfast & 2014 Location Announcement

Then, I’ll be wandering around until 5 p.m. when my transportation leaves. Again, if you’re at HLS and will be sticking around for awhile, let me know if you’d like to meet up!

As always, if you’re interested in the event, follow my Twitter account because I’ll be tweeting fun things all weekend! You can also follow the #HLS13 hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.
