Blogtember Day 4!
This time, the topic is: A story about a time you were very afraid.
This was a little difficult for me because I’m afraid of EVERYTHING. Seriously. The dark, planes, scary movies, bees, death, roller coasters, heights … yep. I’m a scaredy cat.
After I ready Jenni’s post though, I definitely have never been in an “almost plane crash” (though I basically throw up when I have to go on a plane because I’m afraid of that happening), I tried to think of something that truly scared the $%*# out of me.
Then I remembered my car accident a couple years back. Thankfully it was a small accident and I wasn’t hurt, but that’s probably the most scared I’ve ever been.
I was driving to my apartment from my then-boyfriend’s apartment to meet up with some friends. I was driving toward the big highway interchange in Milwaukee in three lanes of traffic. I was in the right-most lane, going the speed limit. I noticed a white car out of the corner of my eye swerve over from the left-most lane into the middle lane and before I knew it, she swerved right into my lane. As she hit me, my first reaction was to try to get away from her, which caused me to hit the side of the road and lose control of my car. My car spun a couple of times, lifted off the ground a bit and spun onto an off ramp where I hit a pole and finally stopped. The entire time this was happening, I was trying to get control of my car while screaming, “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!”
It happened so fast and I don’t remember all of it, but once the vehicle stopped, my first reaction was to try to call my then-boyfriend. I was shaking so much that I couldn’t figure out how to work my phone. I called him and he tried to calm me down but I was in complete shock. Finally I was like “Call my mom, I need to call the cops” and hung up on him. I called the cops, but my car was hidden on ramp so it took them awhile to find me. The rest of the day was a blur. Luckily my then-bf came there and took control of the situation (getting a statement, towing, taking photos, etc.) while I just kept calling my dad crying that I broke his car, ha. I then spent the rest of the day with my friends which was also helpful.
Like I said, I didn’t get hurt but my car was totaled and I had never been more afraid in my entire life that I remember, at least! The lady took off from the scene, but thankfully some guy behind me saw the whole accident, followed her to get her license plate number and then came back and gave a statement so my insurance was able to file a claim against her. Good karma to that man, whoever he is!
What’s the scariest moment you’ve ever had?
